Soccer

Soccer, known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of the body except the arms and hands; only the goalkeepers are allowed to use their hands, and only within their penalty area. Soccer is played on a rectangular field, typically with grass or artificial turf, and the game is divided into two halves of 45 minutes each, with a halftime interval.

The sport is governed internationally by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), which organizes the World Cup, one of the most prestigious competitions in the sport. Soccer emphasizes skills such as passing, dribbling, shooting, and teamwork. It is the most popular sport in the world, attracting millions of fans and players at amateur and professional levels. The simplicity of the rules and the minimal equipment required make it accessible and widely played across diverse cultures and communities.
